Homework

Thanksgiving homework packets will be sent home Monday
Please work with your child to complete these over the break

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

The 2016-2017 School-Wide Homework Policy: No uniform packets will go home

Language Arts:
Weekly reading expectation of 30 minutes per day. Child may read to self, or any family member.

Math:
Please practice computation fluency nightly. Computation and core work will be sent home as needed. All homework assigned is meant as practice of skills already taught in school. MobyMax is great nightly practice!

Science:
Please spend 60 minutes per week on MobyMax practicing science skills

Spelling:
Weekly spelling tests on Fridays. Spelling words given a month at a time in Academic Overview. SpellingCity is available for extra practice.

Please check your child's backpack daily after school. Additional practice in any subject may come home as needed. I do send classwork and sprints home, which are not homework. Homework will have the word "homework" written on the assignment. Sprints (math fluency) are a cornerstone of Singapore Math. At REACH, classes complete them daily (as your students did last year) and are designed to challenge each student. Please do not be concerned if your student does not finish the drill- it is likely no one will all year. They are not graded and do not need to be completed at home. They are for personal best, to improve fluency speed, and for fun!

I have created assignments in Pearson (pearsonrealize.com) for the first ELA unit, which is 5 weeks. For those of you who requested extra homework for your students, these are their assignments.

Weekly tests in reading will be given every 3 and 4 weeks and will be noted on the Academic Overview. Math tests will be given at the end of each unit.

Thank you for your help in partnering with me in your child's education!
